Through our participation in Community Service Projects, as well as our commitment to continuing education through our expanding Scholarship Program, the Kiwanis Club of Centennial Hills sets a high standard of servant leadership.

Guest speaker Darla Jo Hayden, founder of The Lullaby Connection (TLC), shared the inspiring story behind her organization’s mission to provide comfort and essential items to newborns and families in need throughout our community. Members attending our October general meeting enjoyed hearing how this meaningful work continues to impact families across the Las Vegas Valley. On October 11, members of the Kiwanis Club of Centennial Hills teamed up with the Shadow Ridge High School Key Club to serve at a Three Square food distribution site. Three Square is Southern Nevada’s only food bank. Together we’re working to fight food insecurity and support our neighbors in need. The Las Vegas Farm partners with Barn Buddies Rescue, a non-profit dedicated to rescuing abused, neglected, and abandoned farm animals.  The organization offered volunteer opportunities throughout the month of October in support of the 35th Annual Fall Harvest Festival.  If you haven’t visited yet, this is the last weekend of the festival – don’t miss it!  Find more photos on our Media Gallery page!

On October 4, members of the Kiwanis Club of Centennial Hills had the pleasure of visiting the Kiwanis Club of Green Valley for their general meeting. Thank you for welcoming us so warmly! Interclub visits like this are a wonderful opportunity to exchange ideas, build friendships, and celebrate the spirit of Kiwanis fellowship that unites us in service. Fisher House provides a comforting home away from home for active military and veteran families while their loved ones receive medical care. In late September, the Kiwanis Club of Centennial Hills enjoyed a tour of the Las Vegas Fisher House, situated on the grounds of the VA Hospital in North Las Vegas. In early October, our members planned, prepared, and served dinner to 19 family members residing at the house that week. We are Hungry for Service! On a beautiful Saturday morning in September, members of the Kiwanis Club of Centennial Hills visited Spread the Word Nevada! We spent the morning sorting, cleaning, and preparing donated books so they can be placed into the hands of eager young readers across Southern Nevada. Every book represents an opportunity for a child to grow, imagine, and succeed, and we are proud to help make that possible! Find more service project photos on our Media Gallery page!

At our September 18, 2025 general meeting, the Kiwanis Club of Centennial Hills welcomed guest speakers Amy Poremba, Lisa La Delfa, and Angie Gonzalez from ONETEEN, a local nonprofit dedicated to creating safe spaces and opportunities for teens to learn, grow, and succeed. The trio shared inspiring stories about how ONETEEN helps youth discover their potential and build brighter futures.  The Club also celebrated growth with the induction of two new members, Alison Sherman and John Stiles.  And while he couldn’t be there in person, we’re excited to share that Richard Maggipinto has also joined our Club – welcome, Richard! Many thanks to the Kiwanis Clubs of the Las Vegas Strip and Southwest Las Vegas for hosting the Division 28 DCM on September 6, 2025!  It was a great opportunity to celebrate the support, friendship, and camaraderie that keep our clubs strong, while learning from each other and embracing new ways to serve our communities. The Kiwanis Club of Centennial Hills recently partnered with the Key Clubs from Shadow Ridge High School and Arbor View High School and many other local volunteers to support Sleep in Heavenly Peace, a non-profit organization dedicated to providing beds to children in need. On the morning of September 6, 2025, participants worked side-by-side to sand, stain, and assemble 50 beds, combining service, teamwork, and community spirit to make a lasting difference for local families. On August 30, 2025, the Kiwanis Club of Centennial Hills participated in a meaningful service project at Gilcrease Nature Sanctuary, bringing together volunteers dedicated to making a difference. Key Club members from Arbor View High School and Shadow Ridge High School joined forces to improve and beautify the sanctuary grounds. They were supported by members of the Kiwanis Club of North Las Vegas and additional Key Club members from across the Las Vegas Valley. Through teamwork and community spirit, these volunteers contributed to preserving a vital local resource while strengthening bonds between Kiwanis clubs and the schools. The Kiwanis Club of Centennial Hills held its August general meeting with a strong focus on youth leadership and community impact.  Guest speaker Justin Minton from Junior Achievement of Southern Nevada emphasized the importance of early financial education, and pointed out that a half-credit course in economics and financial literacy is now required to graduate high school in the state of Nevada.  He shared how Junior Achievement’s programs are equipping young people with the tools they need to make informed economic decisions, develop entrepreneurial skills, and grow into confident leaders.

The Kiwanis Club of Centennial Hills is proud to sponsor the Key Clubs at Shadow Ridge High School and Arbor View High School!  Both Clubs held their first meetings of the new school year in August – the turnout was impressive and the energy is through the roof! Student leaders and Club members are already hard at work planning volunteer projects that will make a difference in the community, and launching fundraising efforts to fuel their activities.  We can’t wait to see all they accomplish! The 2025 Kiwanis Cal-Nev-Ha District Education Convention (DCON) was a tremendous success! Members of the Kiwanis Club of Centennial Hills staffed the merchandise booth throughout the event, which gave us an opportunity to meet so many attendees from California, Nevada, and Hawaii (and sell them a pin, or a hat, or a t-shirt)! Members of the Kiwanis Club of Centennial Hills and other Division 28 clubs ventured out to Pahrump on August 2, 2025 to welcome Cal-Nev-Ha District Governor Douglas Frost to Southern Nevada! The Kiwanis Club of Centennial Hills welcomed Cal-Nev-Ha Division 28 LTG Krit Sempolkrung to the July 2025 General Meeting. He shared his personal experience attending the Kiwanis Mid-Year South Education Conference, and encouraged all Kiwanians to embrace this outstanding opportunity to interact with and learn from other Clubs and their members. The Kiwanis Club of Centennial Hills thanks July’s guest speaker Joseph Charafi, Founder and President of the Stop The Traffic Foundation, who shared shocking statistics about child trafficking in Las Vegas and throughout the country.
