The Kiwanis Club of Centennial Hills partners with a variety of organizations serving the needs of children, youth and teens. Our members participate in a number of ongoing service projects, and also support the activities and projects of other Kiwanis clubs throughout the Las Vegas Valley. Here is just a glimpse into the joy we experience as we serve our community! Join us!

Everyone Needs a Little TLC! Guest speaker Darla Jo Hayden, founder of The Lullaby Connection (TLC), shared the inspiring story behind her organization’s mission to provide comfort and essential items to newborns and families in need throughout our community. Members attending our October general meeting enjoyed hearing how this meaningful work continues to impact families across the Las Vegas Valley. Through Darla’s compassionate leadership and dedication, The Lullaby Connection has touched countless lives, offering a reminder that even small acts of kindness can make a big difference.

Service in Action! On October 11, members of the Kiwanis Club of Centennial Hills teamed up with the Shadow Ridge High School Key Club to serve at a Three Square food distribution site. Three Square is Southern Nevada’s only food bank. Together we’re working to fight food insecurity and support our neighbors in need. It’s inspiring to see our community come together to make a real difference!

Service in Action! The Las Vegas Farm partners with Barn Buddies Rescue, a non-profit dedicated to rescuing abused, neglected, and abandoned farm animals.  The organization offered volunteer opportunities throughout the month of October in support of the 35th Annual Fall Harvest Festival.  If you haven’t visited yet, this is the last weekend of the festival – don’t miss it!

Two Clubs, One Purpose! On October 4, members of the Kiwanis Club of Centennial Hills had the pleasure of visiting the Kiwanis Club of Green Valley for their general meeting. Thank you for welcoming us so warmly! Interclub visits like this are a wonderful opportunity to exchange ideas, build friendships, and celebrate the spirit of Kiwanis fellowship that unites us in service.

Service in Action! Fisher House provides a comforting home away from home for active military and veteran families while their loved ones receive medical care. In late September, the Kiwanis Club of Centennial Hills enjoyed a tour of the Las Vegas Fisher House, situated on the grounds of the VA Hospital in North Las Vegas. In early October, our members planned, prepared, and served dinner to 19 family members residing at the house that week. We are Hungry for Service!

Service in Action! On a beautiful Saturday morning in September, members of the Kiwanis Club of Centennial Hills visited Spread the Word Nevada! We spent the morning sorting, cleaning, and preparing donated books so they can be placed into the hands of eager young readers across Southern Nevada. Every book represents an opportunity for a child to grow, imagine, and succeed, and we are proud to help make that possible!

Welcome, New Members! At our September 18, 2025 general meeting, the Kiwanis Club of Centennial Hills welcomed guest speakers Amy Poremba, Lisa La Delfa, and Angie Gonzalez from ONETEEN, a local nonprofit dedicated to creating safe spaces and opportunities for teens to learn, grow, and succeed. The trio shared inspiring stories about how ONETEEN helps youth discover their potential and build brighter futures.  The Club also celebrated growth with the induction of two new members, Alison Sherman and John Stiles.  And while he couldn’t be there in person, we’re excited to share that Richard Maggipinto has also joined our Club – welcome, Richard!

The Kiwanis Club of Centennial Hills held its August general meeting with a strong focus on youth leadership and community impact.  Guest speaker Justin Minton from Junior Achievement of Southern Nevada emphasized the importance of early financial education, and pointed out that a half-credit course in economics and financial literacy is now required to graduate high school in the state of Nevada.  He shared how Junior Achievement’s programs are equipping young people with the tools they need to make informed economic decisions, develop entrepreneurial skills, and grow into confident leaders.

The Kiwanis Club of Centennial Hills is proud to sponsor the Key Clubs at Shadow Ridge High School and Arbor View High School!  Both Clubs held their first meetings of the new school year in August – the turnout was impressive and the energy is through the roof! Student leaders and Club members are already hard at work planning volunteer projects that will make a difference in the community, and launching fundraising efforts to fuel their activities.  We can’t wait to see all they accomplish!

The 2025 Kiwanis Cal-Nev-Ha District Education Convention (DCON) was a tremendous success! Members of the Kiwanis Club of Centennial Hills staffed the merchandise booth throughout the event, which gave us an opportunity to meet so many attendees from California, Nevada, and Hawaii (and sell them a pin, or a hat, or a t-shirt)!

There were many informative workshops, and an array of friendly, knowledgeable exhibitors. Dedicated Kiwanians coming together, all focused on the well-being and lifting up of children locally, regionally, and around the world. It is an honor to serve with you!

Our guest speaker for the evening was Joseph Charafi, Founder and President of the Stop The Traffic Foundation. The organization is working to eradicate child trafficking, highlighting the shocking statistics that have Las Vegas ranked among the highest cities for sex trafficking in the United States. The Kiwanis Club of Centennial Hills doesn’t shy away from the tough subjects. All kids matter to Kiwanis!
